Reasons Why You Might Want to Hire a Wedding Planner

As you let on that you are soon-to-be married you immediately get a rush of all the questions and all the unsolicited advice. One thing people seem to be highly opinionated about is whether or not a person should hire a wedding planner. Of course, I think it's essential to enjoy your day to the fullest (and, of course, I'm slightly biased); However, I understand we are all working with what we have in terms of both budget and manpower, and truthfully, you can still have a wedding without a wedding planner. So, to help you decide if hiring a wedding planner is a good choice for you, I have put together a quick list of reasons why you may want to consider it. Read on...
1. Planning stresses you out.
You worry about every single decision that you have to make. You aren't sure if Suzy will be happy with this or if Jane will be happy with that. You aren't sure if this is too fancy or if that is too cheap-looking. You aren't even sure if your to-do list has everything on it that it needs to. Let's face it, planning a wedding is a LOT of work, and there are SO many decisions to be made. It can bring you so much peace and even make the process really fun if you have a professional wedding planner on your side. We have experience, skills and connections that you likely don't have. Not to mention most of us love what we do. We will become your friend during the wedding planning process and you get to let us do all of the work that you don't really want to do.
2. You don't have the time.
Did I mention that planning a wedding is a lot of work? I mean, a LOT. Now, some of you may be perfectly happy with having that extra work, but if you are already a busy person, you just might burn yourself out adding wedding planning to your list of things to do. Hiring a wedding planner can truly save you so much time and energy. In fact, most couples spend 15-20 hours/week on wedding planning. Basically a part-time job.
3. You need help with design and vision.
Ideas, ideas, ideas. In today's world of pinterest and instagram, it is so easy to find ideas and things that you like. You can literally google "navy, gold and mint wedding" and boom - all the ideas! Pick your color combo and go. Trouble deciding on your colors? Google "wedding color palettes" and boom - all the color palettes. The tricky part is narrowing it down and keeping a focus on YOUR vision and what fits you as a couple. It's the pulling together of all of the ideas with a focus on your vision that makes it uniquely yours. And a wedding planner is trained and skilled in helping you do just that.
4. Your friends and family are not wedding planners.
Truly, some of us have fabulous friends and family who are more than willing to help us plan our big days. You will likely hear "let me know if you need help" a thousand times. But when it comes down to it, you don't want to burden the closest people to you with all things wedding. You may also want them to be able to be in the special moments with you and enjoy your wedding day as a guest rather than a volunteer coordinator.
5. Your venue coordinators are not YOUR wedding coordinator.
This one is important if you are thinking, "well, my church has a wedding coordinator and so does my venue." Reality is, they are there to make sure things are taken care of on the venue side of things, but they are not going to do the hard work of coordinating with all of your vendors and be involved in every aspect of your wedding day.
6. You are afraid things won't get done the way you want them done.
Let's be real: you can't be in two places at once. You will need to be hanging with your bridesmaids, getting ready and soaking up every moment of this one day. Let someone else guide your volunteers and ensure your reception venue is set up exactly how you would have set it up yourself. Let your wedding planner be the person that everyone comes to with their questions throughout the day.
7. You want to work with the best vendors.
A great wedding planner will help you hire the most trusted wedding vendors who will handle what they do best. More importantly, they will work closely with each vendor ensuring that they are fulfilling your desires and vision for the day. Often times wedding planners have a trusted circle of vendors who work together as a dynamic team. Vendors love working with wedding planners because they can focus on what they do best and leave all of the other details to the planner who will be responsible for the overall detail of the day.
8. You need a wedding BFF.
Another real moment: not everybody wants to talk wedding down to every little detail, but let us assure you, your wedding planner absolutely will! Having a wedding planner that you trust can truly be like having a new BFF for your wedding planning season of life. All of the wedding energy you have, ideas, plans, hopes, desires, worries, decisions, etc. can be discussed and worked through with your wedding planner, because that's what we do, and we love it!
9. You want to experience your wedding day to its fullest.
Seriously, you have spent months planning and preparing for this ONE day, and it goes by so quickly. You want to soak up every moment of this day and enjoy it to its fullest. If you have someone else to answer all of the questions and guide your vendors, then you are able to do just that. Be in the moment, breathe and ENJOY your best day ever. The best gift you could give to yourself is a wedding planner so you can be fully present this entire day!
So...there you have it. A list of reasons you might consider hiring a wedding planner to help you with all things wedding. Again, we understand that it's not for everyone, but if so much of this resonates with you, this just might be the best decision you make for yourself throughout this process!
